Baicalein

What Is Baicalein?

1)Baicalein (5,6,7-trihydroxyflavone) is a flavonoid compound originally isolated from the roots of Scutellaria scutellaria and the red leaf scutellaria. It is also an ingredient in Indian morning glory (Oroxylum indicum) and thyme. It is an aglycone of baicalin.

2)Baicalein is under investigation in clinical trial NCT03830684 (A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Multicenter and Phase II A Clinical Trial for the Effectiveness and Safety of Baicalein Tablets in the Treatment of Improve Other Aspects of Healthy Adult With Influenza Fever).

3)Baicalein is a natural product found in Lepisorus ussuriensis, Scutellaria prostrata, and other organisms with data available. 

Product Applications
 

1. Antibacterial effect: Baicalein has a strong antibacterial effect, which can inhibit the growth and reproduction of a variety of bacteria, including some common pathogens. This makes baicalin often used in Chinese medicine to treat infectious diseases, such as respiratory infections, intestinal infections and so on.

2. Anti-inflammatory effect: Baicalein has obvious anti-inflammatory effect, which can inhibit the occurrence and development of inflammatory response.
