What Are Botanical Extracts? Where can we find them?

Plant extracts are plant materials with concentrated therapeutic properties. They come in powder or liquid form, and you can extract them by steam distillation, cold pressing, or oil immersion.

Once this process is complete, you have a highly concentrated ingredient that is absorbable and effective for specific skin problems.

Plant extracts are found in a variety of skin, hair, and dental products and are used in concentrated form for medicinal purposes. People have been using them in traditional medicine for thousands of years, and as research advances, companies can more precisely harness the benefits of these extracts.

The plant extracts replenish the skin. They also contain many therapeutic properties and antioxidant effects.

They are often added to skin care products because of their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Since plant extracts are highly concentrated, you'll often find them ranking low on ingredient lists. This is because ingredients are listed by volume, and just a little plant extract can go a long way.

So, just because they're lower on the ingredient list doesn't mean they're less effective.

Application of Botanical Extracts in skin care products

Skin care products use plant extracts because of their many benefits and versatility. Some common uses of plant extracts in skin care include:

1. Hydration:

Extracts such as aloe vera, cucumber, and hyaluronic acid provide intense hydration that helps moisturize and plump the skin.

2. Soothing and calming:

Chamomile, green tea, and calendula extracts have soothing properties that can help reduce skin redness, inflammation, and irritation.

3. Anti-aging:

Plant extracts such as rosehip oil, grape seed extract, and ginseng have antioxidant properties that fight free radicals and help reduce signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone.

4. Increase brightness:

Extracts from plants such as licorice root, vitamin C-rich fruits such as citrus extract, and papayase can help lighten the skin, reduce dark spots, and promote a more radiant complexion.

5. Acne Control:

Tea tree oil, witch hazel and neem extracts have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial in treating acne and controlling breakouts.

Step 6 Remove dead skin:

Natural exfoliating plant extracts such as bromelain (bromelain) and papain (papain) gently remove dead skin cells and promote a smooth and bright skin tone.

7. Antioxidant protection:

Antioxidant-rich plant extracts, such as green tea, pomegranate, and resveratrol, help protect skin from environmental damage and oxidative stress.

8. Oil control:

Extracts of witch hazel, tea tree and lemon can help regulate excess oil production and reduce the appearance of pores.
